Nature lovers can enjoy the opportunity to hike, bike, or ride their horses through 10 miles of pristine stands of old growth Douglas Fir, evergreen and fragrant coastal scrub while enjoying ridge-top vistas of watershed lands, reservoirs, the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. Peninsula Watershed trail begins at Skyline Quarry on Highway 92 and extends northward to the watershed boundary at the Portola Ridge Gate, where it connects with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area trail system. Trained trail leaders head excursions up to three times a day on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Trail use is carefully monitored to ensure there are no significant impacts to the fragile ecosystem. Small groups of hikers, bicyclists, or equestrians may make reservations for guided excursions (limited to approximately 20 people; fewer on horseback).
